Hallway & Stairwell Travel

Hallways: Students and staff will be required to wear protective face masks at all times while traveling in the hallways. Students and staff will travel in one direction during school wide/grade level transitions*. An exception to this will be the main hallways that intersect the front and back of the school. Between class periods, hallways may be traveled in either direction as long as individuals stay to the right and maintain 6’ of social distancing. Hallways will be marked to indicate the direction of travel. 

         *Morning Arrival and Dismissal: During morning arrival, students will be directed to travel in the most direct route to   their classrooms. PGS staff will assist and direct students each day to ensure safe and efficient travel. During dismissal, students will also travel in the most direct route to either the gym, cafeteria, or through the front doors of the school. During arrival and dismissal, unnecessary travel will be discouraged. 

The bell schedule will be updated to indicate the change of class period, lunch waves, and recess blocks. 

Stairwells: Pine Grove School has 4 stairwells. Each stairwell will be utilized for either traveling up to the second floor or down to the first floor. 

Phase 1 

Time Frame: August 31, 2020 - TBD 

Location: Hallways & Stairwells 

Overview: During phase 1, students and staff will travel in one direction in most hallways. The hallways and stairwells will be marked to indicate the direction of travel. Each stairwell will only be used to travel up to the second floor or down to the first floor. 

Phase 2 

Time Frame: TBD 

Location: Hallways and Stairwells 

Overview: During phase 2, students and staff will continue to travel in one direction in most hallways. During phase 2, additional hallways that experience a high level of traffic will be divided up to allow students and staff to travel in either direction as long as classes and individuals stay to the right and maintain 6’ of social distance. The stairwells will continue to be utilized for traveling either up or down only and will continue to be marked to indicate the direction of travel.
