JUNE

Thank you PGS families for all of your support this year! While it was a different and challenging year, the PGS community is finishing PGS STRONG!

Due to the pandemic, the PGS PTO had a different year, but here are some highlights:

  • Started Avon Restaurant Nights! PGS families supported Avon local restaurants and raised some funds (through the restaurants generous % donations) for PGS too! We hope to continue these fun partnerships next year too!

  • Enjoyed a family afternoon and saw friends from a distance at the Avon Pickin Patch in October. PGS families supported an Avon local business and came home with pumpkins and fall goodies! Another partnership the PTO hopes to continue in Fall 2021.

  • Enjoyed two Scholastic virtual Book Fairs - proceeds to support PGS library and literacy programs.

  • Custodian Appreciation and Teacher/Staff Appreciation events - the PTO financially supported appreciation meals and treats for PGS staff! This year they were super stars in teaching our students in person and remotely all the while keeping PGS clean, safe, healthy, and with smiles behind those masks! Thank you PGS team!

  • Funded In Class Field Trips to K-4 grades: different grades experienced new and exciting "field trips" from their PGS classrooms or homes. Some favorites like Roaring Brook Nature Center and Historical Society returned and some grades tried new experiences with the Bronx Zoo and an author visit with Grace Lin. In class field trips are fully funded by the PGS PTO.

  • Purchased PGS spirit wear lanyards for PGS students and staff to keep their face masks handy and clean.

  • Contributed to a new laminator for all PGS staff use in the building. Supported staff's classroom work and necessary supplies via the PGS PTO teacher stipend opportunity.

  • PGS community enjoyed the creativity and artistic talents of Kelsey Nemarich through her clever themed décor in the halls of PGS. From celebrating the seasons to getting ready for summer reading, Kelsey wowed the PGS community with her fun designs and meaningful uplifting messages. Thank you Kelsey for your time and talent!

  • A final event hosted by the PGS PTO will be the 4th Grade Piney Playdate Adventure to celebrate our graduating 4th grade class! They will enjoy a special fun field day with PGS friends and celebrate their final week at PGS! We will miss our 4th grade leaders!

A huge THANK YOU to all who volunteered their time, expertise, talents, and heart

to help have a successful school year!!!
